Cognac cocktails on a summer breeze

What better setting can one think of to celebrate National Cognac Day than the cocktail bar at Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru? Copitas affords viewers an eagle’s-eye view of the city. On a balmy, lazy Sunday evening, it provides the perfect backdrop for a summer cocktail workshop hosted by ‘30 Best Bars India’ in collaboration with Moët Hennessy and N?vu.

The storied Cognac brand Hennessy has been the unrivalled market leader known for the excellence and variety of its aromas. The brand also helps in making some of the finest cocktails that accentuate and bring out its subtle flavours.

Matured in new oak barrels, Hennessy VS is bold and fragrant. It offers toasted and fruit notes, with a rich, clearly defined palate and a welcoming exuberance. The French brandy is also a nice mix for a good cocktail on a hot day.

“Discover tasty summer cocktail recipes made from Hennessy Cognac that will be appreciated at any dinner party, weekend picnic or holiday BBQ”, says the catchy invite for the event – and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

The round and robust flavours of Hennessy VS make it very versatile and is an ideal ingredient for any cocktail possibility, from classic recipes and sophisticated cocktail creations to easy mixed drinks.

Participants at the cocktail workshop, who included brandy connoisseurs and representatives of the bartending community, were welcomed with a tall and refreshing glass of the Hennessy Ginger made of Hennessy VS and ginger ale, with a dash of Angostura bitters.

Curated by Khushnaz Raghina, Brand Ambassador for Moët Hennessy India, and Kanishka Sharma, Chef Partner at N?vu, the fun event was accompanied by paired starters to accentuate the flavour of the ingredients.

“What is not so well known in our part of the world is the versatility of Cognac. With cocktail culture picking up across the country, we were keen to showcase simple and delicious cocktail recipes using Hennessy for summer entertaining,” says Khushnaz as she points out the speciality of the ingredients that go into the making of the cocktails.

Each participant was provided all the required ingredients and allowed to mix their own Ginger Sublime cocktail, a zesty mix of Hennessy VS, ginger-lemon and honey water!

Kanishka provided the finishing touches to the evening by preparing the Hennessy Blossom, a fresh and floral fruit punch that included elderflower, grapefruit and orange.

The delicious Hennessy cocktails gave everyone the much-needed respite from the summer heat!
