What’s the one thing you’d like to change about the Indian market?
I would like to make iconic brands, trends and experiences more accessible to Indian consumers. They deserve the extraordinary and exceptional, especially in the vast pool of luxists, who like to explore and experience quiet and mindful luxury.
Who do you think sets drinking trends in India?
Given India’s diversity, it’s hard to name one. Word of mouth, shopper and consumption occasions, and influencers play a big role. I’m delighted to note a significant shift with reference to “responsible consumption”… in consumers making mindful choices… such as “quality versus quantity”.
What's the next big thing for India?
Premiumisation and exploration! Indian consumers are not shy to indulge and reward themselves. The future is all about consuming better and in a mindful environment!
What’s the best motivation for your team?
When life gives you lemons, make Whisky Sours (read Monkey Shoulder)!
What is the most overrated drinking fad/ drink in India at the moment?
At a time of experimentation and adventure, drink preference is a personal choice. But this openness to savour new experiences leads to innovation and new categories.
Which is your favourite bar in India and why?
The new entrepreneurial India has young, dynamic, well-travelled and aware bar owners. This is bringing both globally successful ideas as well as new, innovative crafted experiences here. With this evolution, it’s hard to pick one favourite. My preference is a bar with a laid-back vibe, some thoughtfully crafted drinks and great music. The company you share all this with always makes it an occasion to remember.
If you were alone on a desert island, which drink would you want with you?
Americano – on the rocks!
