Defined by desire, Glenfiddich experiments with tea

Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, has experimented with tea to curate unique sensorial serves for whisky enthusiasts and novices to cherish.

Driven by the desire to constantly innovate and walk an unchartered path, Glenfiddich has created four serves, each with a unique service ritual, redefining the rules of traditional cocktail making.

India is a tea-drinking nation and the second largest producer of tea. Complementing the tasting notes of Glenfiddich ‘Our Original Twelve’, the sensorial serves will create distinguished experiences for the single malt lovers driving an emotional connection with India’s most loved beverage and the water of life.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of mixing tea and whisky, it is an experience outside of mainstream mixology. The four single malt serves – Dufftown Mist, Smoky Tryst, Paradisiacal Highball and Threefold Fashioned – have been created using fruit-forward notes of the Glenfiddich ‘Our Original Twelve’ with its tangerine sweetness and intense aromas.

We have used Anandini Himalaya Tea specially created by India’s leading tea sommelier, Anamika Singh, who has been working in the tea industry for close to 30 years.

Our experiments with tea reflect Glenfiddich’s long illustrious history of innovation and desire to push boundaries of convention. It has been a journey full of passion, carefully creating serves using the tea and Glenfiddich single malt.

Paradisiacal Highball, Smoky Tryst and Threefold Fashioned.

The hand-plucked, roasted green tea from Manjhee Valley Tea Estate is specially manufactured in the month of September. It has hints of saffron with splashes of cockscomb flower, which pairs well with smooth and mellow Glenfiddich ‘Our Original Twelve; to deliver an experience like never before. The four special serves are:

  • Dufftown Mist: As you cut through the smoke, bloom into tones of saffron and marigold, ultimately diving into the depths of Glenfiddich 12YO.
  • Smoky Tryst: Like the early morning skyline, there’s smoke and a touch of gold with a dash of fine tea and the balance of Glenfiddich 12YO.
  • Paradisiacal Highball: We’re talking lush tea plantations of Kashmir with drops of lime that blend with Glenfiddich 12YO and open up the single malt further.
  • Threefold Fashioned: An experimental cousin of the classic Old Fashioned, one can unravel layers of sweet cinnamon, zest of orange and bitters, subtle taste of tea leaves and finally the smoothness of Glenfiddich 12YO.

Glenfiddich has reinvented the norm and redefined the single malt serve in India with these first-of-its-kind serves that will be available across premium bars, restaurants and top 100 outlets in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Goa.

On the nose Glenfiddich ‘Our Original Twelve’ is distinctively fresh and fruity with a hint of pear. On the palate, the characteristic sweet, fruity notes develop into butterscotch, cream, malt, and subtle oak flavours. It has a long smooth and mellow finish.

The Anandini Himalaya Tea is infused with classic green tea, saffron, marigold flower, cockscomb flower and cardamom. On the nose it has the warmth of saffron and marigold – floral, but with a hint of spice.
