Rhododendrons colour 7Rivers’ new brew

Seven Rivers Brewing Co. at Taj (MG Road) Bengaluru and its collaborator, AB InBev, have introduced its speciality brew for this summer, the Rhodies Saison, a beer brewed in collaboration with friends from Tons Valley in Uttaranchal.

Rhododendron (Buransh) evergreen trees bloom in late winter till early summer and cover the trees with beautiful brightly coloured red flowers harvested by the locals to make a delicious squash drink, or to use in curries.

Seven Rivers is bringing this unique local ingredient to create an exotic brew in a flavourful, light to medium-bodied farmhouse ale with a dry finish. The pale pink hue is thanks to the late infusion of the rich Rhododendron flower extract in the beer.

Having been fermented at warmer temperatures, the Saison boasts prominent phenolic and spice notes which complement the floral, earthy, and mildly sour tart-like notes from the Rhododendron.
