The caged genie in your bottle!

Wine ‘cage’ decanter for connoisseurs

From being just an attractive glass container for storing and serving wine and other alcoholic drinks, decanters have evolved over the years with varied shapes and designs. Today they have become collector’s items with a great amount of snob value!

Decanters have traditionally always been made from glass or crystal. It was first introduced by ancient Romans, who were prolific consumers of wine and pioneered the use of glass as a material. Subsequently, glass production became scarce, causing the majority of decanters to be made of bronze, silver, gold, or earthenware.

In the 1730s, British glassmakers introduced the stopper to limit exposure to air. Since then, there has been little change to the basic design of the decanter. Today, although conceived for wine, other alcoholic beverages, such as Cognac or single malt Scotch whisky, are often stored and served in stoppered decanters.

The Cage Decanter is a product of the Pune-based luxury lifestyle brand, Shaze. It is definitely a work of art and was rightly nominated ‘Product of the Year 2019’ at the FX Awards for world-class design excellence.

With its iconic gold-hued armour, the cage decanter is where unparalleled experiences take centrestage. Cultured with lead-free crystal, this decanter is secured for usage and comes with a cork stopper that is attached to a metal top.

This one-of-a-kind piece has a diamond pattern on its neck that celebrates the decanter’s bold silhouette through handcrafted crystal glass. With precision machine fins, a dramatic effect, like the secrecy of sorcery, unfolds as these fins open up and release the decanter’s contents.

The Cage Decanter has a length of 12 cm, width of 12 cm, and a height of 25 cm. With a 1-litre capacity and a weight of 1.4 kg, it is available in four attractive colours: warm gold, electric blue, rose gold and gunmetal grey.
