Bid to curb ocean-bound plastics wins star hearts

ZenWTR, a premium alkaline water and world’s first beverage in a bottle made from 100% recycled, certified ocean-bound plastic, celebrated Earth Month with the announcement of its star-studded backing. As sustainability becomes a mainstream desire now, more than ever, these names are putting a stake in ZenWTR’s mission to help restore the world’s oceans and reduce the amount of plastic polluting coastal environments.

The renowned list of investors includes award-winning actors Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Zoe Saldana; leading musical artists 2 Chainz, Ellie Goulding, Juicy J and Lil Jon; renowned athletes Julio Jones and Tristan Thompson; and celebrity entrepreneurs Khloé Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Erin and Sara Foster.

Founded by serial beverage entrepreneur Lance Collins, every 1-litre bottle of ZenWTR is made using up to five certified ocean-bound plastic bottles, preventing them from reaching and polluting the oceans. In addition, 1% of total company sales go directly to charities and organisations dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans and marine environments as well as recycling education.

Ocean-bound plastic is defined as plastic found on coastlines and waterways that feed into the ocean in a country or region lacking waste management infrastructure and collection incentives. Vapour-distilled and ionised to reach an alkaline pH of 9.5, ZenWTR is delivered in a 100% recyclable package. ZenWTR is on track to achieve its mission of rescuing more than 50 million pounds of ocean-bound plastic by 2025 (www.zenwtr.com).
