How Cogni keeps the wine fine

How Cogni keeps the wine fine Mike Slone, Simple Labs Founder and CEO, and the creator of Cogni, says the monitoring system can even detect potential problems in the wine-making process before they occur.

Simple Labs, producers of the Cogni Wine Barrel Monitor, simplified the wine-making process worldwide with the international premiere of their barrel monitoring system at CES 2023, held in January.

Cogni is a patented, wireless, continuous, integrated barrel aging monitoring system that can track temperature, humidity, phenol/ guaiacol, acetic acid, SO2, pH, alcohol and fill levels, making real-time data accessible to winemakers worldwide.

By forming a network of connected devices with any number of barrels, Cogni alerts the user via mobile and desktop notifications if levels slip out of user-set tolerance ranges. Winemakers can then review the current levels and recorded data to determine next steps.

“Cogni is of great benefit to wineries due to its ability to immediately extract data and detect potential problems in the wine-making process before the issue occurs,” says Simple Labs Founder and CEO, and the creator of Cogni, Mike Slone.

“In addition to optimising the wine-making process, there are also labour cost savings in the cellar, and savings in terms of sending samples out to an exterior lab,” he adds.
