Brews&Spirits Expo sets new bar

India’s most important gathering of the alcoholic beverage industry, Brews&Spirits Expo, successfully concluded on 7th July, 2022, at the Manpho Convention Centre in Bengaluru.

The 2-day event, organised by PDA Ventures, witnessed exhibitors from around the world showcase and display products, solutions, technologies and services.

Brews&Spirits Expo was inaugurated by Dr. S. Uma Sankar, Excise Commissioner of West Bengal. Ms. Hina Nagarajan, Managing Director and CEO of Diageo India, delivered the keynote address.

Other who spoke at the inaugural session were Mr. Narayan Manepally, Co-Founder & CEO at Geist; Mr. Vikram Achanta, Founder and CEO of Tulleeho Portals; and Mr. Pradeep Devaiah, Chairman & CEO of PDA Ventures.

The concurrent conference, titled ‘Grain to Glass 3.0’, focussed on the pertinent theme, ‘Innovation for Disruption’, by industry experts from various countries, yielding a wealth of information on current trends in the alcobev industry.

There were curated master classes conducted by senior professionals and brands such as Sonal Holland Wine Academy, Fermentis by Lesaffre, Karnataka Wine Board, Estuary Blending Water, Maka Zai Rum, Ellerslie Australia and others.

A technical workshop by VLB Berlin on ‘Sensory Training and Beer Styles’ was complemented by a Mixology & Flair Challenge conducted by the Indian Flair Bartenders’ Association.

The Expo was supported by the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC), Craft Brewers’ Association Of India (CBAI), Wine & Spirits Club of India (WSCI), Karnataka Brewers & Distillers Association (KBDA), UP Distiller’s Association, Apex Wine Club India, National Restaurants’ Association of India (NRAI), Grape Growers Federation of India and IFBA.

Industry exhibitors

The main exhibitors were manufacturers of equipment, technologies and services for the production of beverage alcohol, as well as filling and packaging; warehousing, distribution and logistics providers; and laboratory equipment and analytical systems.

On the technology side, Brews&Spirits Expo 2022 included automation, robotics and control systems; point-of-sales apps and inventory management software.

There were suppliers of a choice of flavours, hops, malts, chemicals and extracts. Among the distilleries and breweries participating in the Expo were John Distilleries, Fullarton Distilleries, Angus Dundee, Chhattisgarh Distilleries and Geist Brewing Co.

Leading technology providers included Janus International, Prodeb Brewery Equipment, World Pack Automation, Guala Closures, Harikrushna Machinepack, AGI Glasspac and Microfilt India.

There were seen rubbing shoulders with Brewnation, Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits, Ultra International, Russel Finix, Praras Biosciences, FYUL, Antares Vision, Vlinder Labs and Kerry Ingredients.

Smile Automation, Guala Closures, Brew Essentials, Aspire Scientific, Skytech Caps & Closures, Vform Technopack and Cocktails India also had products and services for the beer, spirits and wine industry.
