A thermal engineering specialist in Silicon Valley, Matrix Industries, has developed a drink cooler called ‘Juno’ that can chill a wine bottle in 3 minutes. The product is currently at the testing stage, but was previewed at the tech show CES, in Las Vegas in December 2019.
In order to rapidly chill white and red wine to “sommelier-recommended temperatures” it uses “reverse microwave” technology.
Juno is capable of chilling a full size, 750-ml bottle of white wine to 10 degrees Celsius in just 3 minutes, while a bottle of beer can be cooled to the correct serving temperature in less than 1 minute.
Juno can also be used to chill soft drinks, including coffee and canned fizzy drinks. The opening at the top permits the insertion of most beverage vessels, from cans to bottles of sparkling wine.
Juno, which will be available in a range of custom colour options, has a coloured LED bar down the side which allows consumers to check on the status of their drink.
It features just three controls, which come pre-set for the recommended red and white wine temperatures, with the option to customise your preferred chilling level.
