The National Finale of Monin Cup 2022, the international bartending competition conducted across more than 50 countries to discover the most skilled mixologists, was held in Delhi recently.
The annual marquee competition is organised by the well-known French company, Monin. Its 150+ flavours are available in more than 150 countries. They are considered the brand of reference for bar and catering professionals.
The regional events commenced in Kolkata in July and concluded in New Delhi and the finalists, selected via regional competitions conducted in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, competed for the coveted trophy.
Akshay Kottary, the head trainer at Martiny Mixology from Mangaluru (Karnataka), was selected as the India winner. Kottary will now compete on a global level with finalists from different countries to be held in France at the end of 2022.
The jury comprised well-known names from the food and beverage industry including consultant beverage trainer and Co-owner of Sidecar bar, Yangdup Lama; Co-founder of Greenhouse by Bacardi, Sahith Sethuraman; Founder director of Gigglewater Beverage Concepts, Karina Aggarwal; and Andrea Fidora, Monin’s Regional Sales Director from Dubai.
Speaking at the event, Germain Araud, Managing Director of Monin India said, “Monin Cup competitions are a great platform for budding bartenders in the country to come forward and show their talent to the world. We aim to provide a professional stage for them to thrive and learn new skills through this contest.”
