Two dozen breweries, 30 rare craft beers, ciders and meads: that was the math at the craziest and biggest tap takeover celebration in Mumbai recently! Breweries, home brewers and mad scientists from Mumbai and Pune participated in Doolally’s taprooms in Andheri and Khar (Mumbai), Thane and Koregaon Park (Pune) for the takeover of its taps for three days: on 16, 17 and 18 May.
The idea of the festival was not to compete but to collaborate and work together so the consumer understands that it’s an incredible time to be a beer/ cider/ mead drinker in Maharashtra.
Among the breweries and meaderies participating – and the beers, ciders and meads they showcased – were Kimaya (Vanilla Porter), Yavasura (Rosemary Hefeweizen), 12th Man Brewing (Hefeweizen), Drifters (Mexican Crisp Lager), Bombay Duck Brewing (Rice and Shine Farmhouse Ale), Great State Ale Works (New England IPA) and Effingut (Cherry Berry).
Gateway Brewing Co. (Mint Lager), Igloo (Cucumber Sour), Royal Oak (Mosambi Pale Ale), Brewantee (Wheat Michelada Lime-Chilli-Pepper), Cerana (Pomegranate Vanilla Mead), Wildcraft (Tropical Mead), Moonshine (Strawberry Mead), Hapi (Rauchbier) Stoney River (Saison) and Oi (Lemon Seltzer) also participated.
Doolally itself put out Blueberry Cider, Alphonso Mead, Belgian Witbier and Oatmeal Stout for the taproom takeover. Others joining in the excitement and fun were Hik! (Hopped Mead), Nincasa (Whiskey Ale), Big Little Brewing (Kristalweizen), Toit (Nitro Stout), 2 Down Beer Co (Basil Blonde), Barba (Dunkelweizen) and Brew Whale (American IPA).
