A high-quality international collaboration between qualified and technically competent brewers from two world-class breweries, Geist Brewing Co. in Bengaluru and St. Andrews Beach Brewery in Mornington Peninsula, Australia, has led to a super-cool Australian-style summer beer.
About 3,000 litres of the aptly named Oz LageRoo were brewed with hops from Ellerslie Hops in the state of Victoria, a fourth-generation grower and importer of hops and hop products in Australia.
Co-brewed by Vidya Kubher (Geist) and Rachel Mason (St Andrews Beach Brewery), with hops supplied by Rachelle Rochcouste (Ellerslie Hops), Oz LageRoo has a light malt character, mellow fruity citrus hops notes and a crisp lager finish.
It will be available in all Geist Brewing Co. outlets in Bengaluru: Old Madras Road, Bharatiya Mall and Orion Mall.
The beer was brewed at the Geist Brewing’s production brewery. “We approached it like we would with any other seasonal and limited-release beers: a single batch brewed in late February,” said Vidya.
The beer was released at a private event hosted by Global Victoria in late March at Geist Brewing Co., Hennur. At 5.5% ABV and 18 IBU, Oz LageRoo is a very easy-drinking lager that many Indians typically enjoy on a warm afternoon, especially during summer.
“Pouring pale straw yellow, the Geist Oz LageRoo is light-bodied, with a crisp lager profile, showcasing Southern Hemisphere hops. Mildly bittered, this refreshing brew exhibits a light malt character topped with mellow fruity-citrus hop notes and a dry finish,” Vidya added.
